Caprisa Tavonia Clowney

Caprisa T. Clowney is an attorney with Meriwether & Tharp who practices family law throughout Georgia. She brings a strategic, client-centered approach to each matter and pairs strong advocacy with genuine compassion for the people and families she serves. She represents clients in divorce, child custody, child support, legitimation, modifications, and complex family law disputes.

Ms. Clowney blends strong courtroom advocacy with thoughtful negotiation and mediation when resolution best serves a client's interests. As a registered General/Civil Mediator in Georgia, she provides steady guidance, clear communication, and practical solutions for clients navigating emotionally challenging transitions.

Ms. Clowney's background reflects a commitment to public service and dispute resolution. She previously served as an Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Solicitor General. Prior to her admission to the State Bar of Georgia, she held leadership roles with the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity, where she served as Equal Employment Division Director, Ethics Compliance Officer, and In-House Mediator.

Ms. Clowney earned her Juris Doctor from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina, with an additional cognitive credential in Psychology. Ms. Clowney has been licensed to practice law in Georgia since 2020 and has been admitted to the Georgia Supreme Court and Georgia Court of Appeals since 2022.

Outside of her legal work, Ms. Clowney stays active in her community and is a proud mother of two sons. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and exploring new recipes in the kitchen.
