My experience with Carlos was extremely disappointing, particularly when it came to communication and the handling of my defense. I repeatedly called and texted seeking updates, asking about evidence and the status of my case, and trying to understand the strategy for my defense. Responses were of...ten delayed or nonexistent, leaving me feeling uninformed about a case that has very serious consequences for my life. More concerning was the repeated pressure I felt to accept a plea. I made it very clear, multiple times, that I would not plead guilty to something I maintain I did not do and that I wanted my case properly investigated and defended. During one of our conversations, after expressing my concerns and asking what could be done to defend the case, his response to me was essentially, “It’s Cherokee County. What do you want me to do?” That response was incredibly concerning to hear from the attorney I retained to advocate for me. I understand that no attorney can guarantee an outcome, and I never expected one. What I did expect was communication, a clear defense strategy, responsiveness to legitimate questions, and an attorney willing to meaningfully address the evidence and concerns I raised. Based on my personal experience, I did not feel that I received that level of representation, communication, or advocacy.
