The firm defended the insurance company at a jury trial, which resulted in a verdict for the plaintiff race car driver. On appeal, the court of appeals reversed the verdict holding that as a matter of law, the insurance policy did not cover racing.

Hubcap Heaven, Inc. ("Hubcap Heaven") started a competing business to a franchise. The franchise brought suit to enjoin the business claiming that Hubcap Heaven had violated non-compete covenants by i ... ts owner. The Superior Court of Fulton County granted the franchise plaintiff an injunction against Hubcap Heaven. On appeal, the Georgia Court of Appeals reversed the court's decision on the grounds that non compete agreements did not prevent competition by Hubcap Heaven.

OUTCOME: Reversal of Judgment on Appeal

The client owned a mobile home park that he had been developing for more than 30 years. His original plans included many pads for parking the homes. Over the years, the county had granted permits for ... placement of additional homes on the pads as planned. However, after the county changed its zoning ordinance, it refused to give the client any more permits. The client filed suit for a writ of mandamus to compel the county to grant him additional permits for placement of new homes. The trial court sided with the county and denied the writ and the client appealed. On appeal, the court reversed the trial court's order and held that the nonconforming use provisions of the zoning ordinance could not be applied retroactively to prohibit the issuance of additional permits according to the original plan for development of the mobile home park. The court held that the mobile home or manufactured home park owner had a vested right, also known as a grandfather right, to additional permits.

The firm's client sought a letter of zoning compliance from the county needed to enter the state permitting process for a landfill. In order to stop the landfill, the county tried to change its zoning ... ordinance as a basis for denying the letter, which the client needed to present to the Environmental Protection Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The would be landfill operator, however, submitted an application for the letter before the county commissioners held the vote to change the ordinance. The trial court sided with the firm's client and the county appealed. The Georgia Supreme Court also sided with the firm's client thereby requiring the county to issue the letters that allowed the permitting process with the state to start. Mr. Teague authored briefs in the matter. The Supreme Court held that the applicant's right to the letter of zoning compliance vested before the county commissioners voted to change the ordinance.
