I deeply regret hiring this firm

I hired this firm to handle my divorce expecting professional guidance and communication but my experience was extremely disappointing. This law firm filed a motion to withdraw from my case without resolving outstanding issues or meaningfully communicating with me beforehand. I had repeatedly aske...d for correspondence and clarification about next steps but my messages went unanswered. There were also avoidable admin errors. One court filing listed the wrong petitioner’s name. There was no counteroffer and no settlement strategy was ever discussed with me, even though I was relying on my attorney to review discovery materials and advise me on how to proceed. I did not receive clear guidance about the process or access to necessary information to make informed decisions. That was the minimum expectation for the $10,000 I shelled out. They never missed an opportunity to ask me for more money and ultimately withdrew from my case because I refused to pay more money. As I stated, $10,000 should have gotten me a settlement offer at the minimum. Communication problems were ongoing. My paralegal scheduled a meeting with me and did not attend and follow-up messages were not returned. I felt left in the dark about the status of my own case. Because of these issues I lost confidence in the firm's ability to represent me effectively and ultimately had to take over handling my legal matters myself. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this attorney to clients who value clear communication and careful attention to detail. I could have handled my own case for less than $500 but instead I wasted 10,000.

We take client feedback seriously; however, this review contains multiple inaccuracies and omits critical context. First, the assertion that the client “spent $10,000” with the firm is factually incorrect. Billing records reflect a lower amount actually earned and applied pursuant to the signed engagement agreement. Second, representation is contingent upon continued payment and cooperation, as clearly outlined in the engagement agreement. A client cannot decline to replenish a retainer, withhold required discovery, and simultaneously expect ongoing legal work, settlement negotiations, or litigation strategy to continue uninterrupted. That expectation is neither realistic nor ethical. Third, this matter involved incomplete discovery and unresolved deficiencies repeatedly communicated to the client. Settlement discussions and counteroffers cannot proceed meaningfully when required financial information remains outstanding or when a client elects to disregard legal guidance and proceed unilaterally. With respect to strategy, legal outcomes depend on following established legal processes — not on a client dictating timing, procedure, or approach contrary to counsel’s advice. When a client chooses not to proceed as advised, the results are easily impacted. The firm’s decision to withdraw was procedural and required under the engagement agreement and ethical rules after payment was declined while substantial work remained. The client received notice and documentation consistent with those obligations. For confidentiality reasons, we cannot address every assertion publicly; however, the firm’s fully documented timeline, billing records, communications, and case activity directly contradict the claims made in this review. While we regret the client’s dissatisfaction, the firm acted diligently, ethically, and within the scope of representation at all times.

Divorce/Child Custody

If you're looking for a "pit bull" attorney, Attorney Boyd is your girl. She aggressively dominated my case, while also listening to my thoughts and opinions. When my ex did not return our daughter, Attorney Boyd jumped into action immediately and worked long and extra hours over the weekend to ensur...e she was returned back into my custody. She is sharp, quick on her feet, and knows the ins/out of the law.

Supreme Professionalism

From my initial interview with Joanna, she was very professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. She provide me with recommendations and advised me on all options with my case. She was easy to speak to and her professionalism is second to none. Not only was she well prepared, but presented my case i...n a manner in which I was thoroughly impressed. I came in as a client but I feel as if I left and a family member. I wholeheartedly recommend J.G. Boyd Law LLC for all your family court matters! Thank you for representing me! Chris Williams
