Excellent Lawyer

I hired Lauren the summer of 2015 after my now ex-husband and I decided to separate with the intention of divorce. From the beginning Lauren was very involved in my case, making sure that I would get the best outcome from a divorce. She was great about answering all of my questions whether by phone,... email, or office consultation. I also felt like she was very knowledgeable of divorce law and what I could or could not expect in our decree (such as not getting alimony since we weren’t married long enough to for sure be eligible). I also felt like she had great insight with what a judge would approve of if it came to us not agreeing on something. I fully trusted Lauren to represent me. In fact, I am now back in contact with her concerning some worries that I have related to the decree. I would 100% hire Lauren to represent me again should I end up back in court.

Waste of money

My first experience hiring an attorney and I would've came out no differently had I represented myself. She waited around stating it didn't matter who filed for divorce first when it most definitely is in the advantage of the person who files first. She told me we would have no issues getting my divo...rce on physical cruelty as I was the victim of domestic violence and turns out my injuries "did not meet the standard of the law" to get a divorce on physical cruelty which a good lawyer should know the laws and standards of those laws. Then she strongly encouraged me to admit to things that totally went against me in court that the other party did not have proof of anyway nor would've been able to prove had my attorney not told me to admit that had nothing to do with my reason for divorce. Needless to say attorneys work together and not for the individual client but for money and how much they can suck out of you. My divorce should've been simple no properties together no children together and only married 5 months. All I asked was for my medical bills paid for as my husband beat me to the pt of seeking hospital care and he was arrested on CDV and of course my $3,000 attorney fee paid and I didn't get either. All Maurice law firm got me was an empty pocket! My experience with maurice law firm was not positive. Dont let me forget they kept highlighting 5he fact they "discounted" my fee to help me out yet I was "paid in full" prior to our final court date which consisted of $2,000 that was supposed to include final court hearing yet after the final court date I then owed $660 more for nothing. So in the end I was left with $2,660 in attorney debt and $3,000 in medical bills due to apparently my attorney not knowing the standards of the law. Yeah okay I got divorced and away from my husband but then again I would've still gotten divorced representing myself and saving $2,660.

Ms. Maurice is NOT worth hiring as a divorce attorney

I hired Ms. Maurice to represent me in family law/divorce/seperation. The women that work in her office and friendly and answers calls promptly. During my first three meetings, Ms. Maurice was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I felt she would be fair and represent me well. In court however s...he was incompetent. She was very disorganized and was not prepared. She had facts about my case incorrect. She stuttered and appeared nervous. I was embarrassed. She called me later to ask about her "sketchy notes". Several times we had problems because she could not understand her notes. Later, the problem went as far as the bill/statement being incorrect. I was misinformed about rates. Even when I had proof that I was being mischarged because of her sketchy notes, she would not admit an error. It costed me a lot of money. I had to hire another attorney. Ms. Maurice also caused problems with visitation days and times for my children to visit thier father. She did not write down the correct schedule during the hearing that was ordered by a judge. It caused much stress on my part and unnecessary arguments with my spouse. I do not recommend legal representation by Ms. Maurice to anyone.
