Jarrunis L. Yates

Jarrunis L. Yates (J.R.) grew up in Rock Hill, SC and was graduated from Westminster Catawba. He earned a Bachelor of Art degree from Clemson University in secondary education. He received his Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law. While attending Howard University, J.R. was selected for the criminal justice clinic, which was tasked with defending indigent people in Washington, DC charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes.

J.R. is also a member of the United States Air Force Reserve. Major Yates is an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate for the 42 Air Base Wing at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. Major Yates serves as an IMA reservist and he received a direct commission as a Judge Advocate in March 2011.

J.R. is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Courts of South Carolina and Alabama, the United States District Courts of South Carolina and Middle District of Alabama, Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the Air Force Court of Appeals. His practice includes civil litigation with an emphasis in real estate and land use issues. He also focuses on administrative law issues handling social security disability claims. Maj Yates' experience as both a civilian and reservist gives him a unique perspective on the issues facing families dealing with difficult legal issues in today's world.
