James Andrew Smith

Drew is a dedicated attorney with extensive experience in civil litigation, workers’ compensation, disability law, and public service. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Citadel in 1994 and his Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law in 1997, where he was a member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy. He also holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.

Drew is admitted to practice before the South Carolina Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the United States Supreme Court.

He began his legal career as a civil litigator with Love, Thornton, Arnold & Thomason, P.A., before joining Gallivan, White & Boyd, P.A., where he focused on workers’ compensation defense and ultimately became a partner. In 2009, Drew transitioned to full-time military service with the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG). During his distinguished military career, he served in numerous leadership roles, including Legal Assistance Officer, Trial Counsel, Chief of Recruiting for the Reserve Component, and Command Judge Advocate. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after more than two decades of service.

Today, Drew serves as an Associate Attorney with Stewart Law Offices in Beaufort, South Carolina. His practice focuses on civil litigation, workers’ compensation claims, Social Security Disability matters, and Veterans Affairs Disability Benefits claims. In addition to his legal practice, Drew continues his commitment to public service as a part-time municipal judge for the Town of Bluffton.
