Kenneth Jay Anthony

Jay Anthony has spent his life in the Upstate, having grown up in Spartanburg and attended Furman University.  After graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law, Jay served as a law clerk to Justice Costa M. Pleicones on the Supreme Court of South Carolina.  As a law clerk, Jay participated in discussions with Justice Pleicones and his staff, attended oral arguments, and helped to craft opinions.

Following his clerkship, Jay practiced in various areas of litigation including personal injury law, construction law, and business litigation.  Drawing on his time at the Supreme Court, Jay has also handled cases on appellate law at all levels of the South Carolina appellate system.  Additionally, Jay spent time working with the cities of Travelers Rest, Greer, and Mauldin as an acting city prosecutor.

In 2014, Jay chose to begin practicing with his father – a longtime dream.  He practices both out of the Greenville and Spartanburg offices and is active in these counties as well as the surrounding counties of Anderson, Pickens, Cherokee, and Union.

Today, Jay focuses his practice on personal injury litigation, appellate law, construction, and business litigation, while also practicing in criminal and family law.  He has published articles on appellate practice in South Carolina as well as on a variety of other topics in a monthly column, and has been a speaker with the South Carolina Bar Association’s Law School for Non-Lawyers Program.  Jay is a member of the Haynsworth-Perry Inn of Court and is co-chair of the Families Forever Adoption Project with the South Carolina Young Lawyers Division.  He serves as an officer of the Cleveland Forest Neighborhood Association, as a volunteer with the Hope Center in Spartanburg, and is a member of the Board of the Spartanburg Ballet.  In his spare time, Jay enjoys traveling around the Carolinas and spending time on the Swamp Rabbit Trail with his wife, Kristen, and their new little boy, James.
