Not Trustworthy

I retained this lawyer for a divorce last January 2018. I was very impressed with the favorable reviews she has on the web. Her secretary, Lisa, is precious and very easy to talk to. Prior to getting a Separation Agreement, on August 30, 2018, she gave me 10 days notice she was closing her office ...per a phone conversation. She said she was taking another "position" and would transition me to another lawyer. I was not fully convinced of this due to the fact she had lied to me before. In a voice mail she left (8/6/18) she said there was a deadline to my case and mediation would have to be set. However, when I asked her per phone conversation (8/30/18) when the deadline was, she said there wasn't any deadline. I called her office three times on 9/5/18 with no answer twice and a full voice mail box on the last effort. I reached Lisa the next day to ask how I was suppose to transition now that she is closing her office. Lisa was a bit stunned and said this was the first she had heard of this! I asked her about the 2 lawyers I had in mind and Christine in the background said "No" to each of them and would not give an explanation when asked. I had no trust in her to chose my lawyer after spending $4695.00 already and nothing to show for it. I assumed she was going to direct me to the same kind of treatment or to someone she owed a favor to. I went with one I chose and so far am very happy with the results. My new lawyer didn't like the judge she had scheduled with for mediation because he "didn't get things done", so she called my husband's lawyer to get the ball rolling with another judge- all prior to getting a retaining fee. My case is simple- no kids, no alimony- the only snare is the marital property. I wrote all the narratives that she used almost verbatim to tag on to her usual forms. I don't believe she gave me any counsel, but just repeated my wishes. These are the reasons I would recommend you seek alternative representation for your case: 1) She cannot be trusted -besides "misleading" "misspeaking" or really downright lying about a deadline, she has lied about closing her office! I see she has a new website! I was an easy client that paid my bills, but evidently there was not enough money in it for her 2) She overcharges for the little work she does. She will "nickel and dime" you to eternity! 3) She is arrogant and borders on being unethical. I have had to be out another retaining fee due to her dumping me. Then she had the nerve to send me another bill which would have taken my total to $5300.00 with no Separation Agreement yet! I was victimized in my marriage and then again with this lawyer. It is your choice. But you have been warned!

In response to this review I would like to make the following observations. Unfortunately in life there are some people whom you cannot please. In this particular case, I understand that some clients do not understand the divorce procedure having never gone through it before. This often creates confusion and misunderstandings. I can say with my whole heart that this client was not lied to. Her review is filled with misunderstandings and mistruths. She would ask me to send letters to the attorney requesting that I impart information verbatim but is now complaining that I did exactly as she asked and used her words. There is a deadline to every famiy court case. It is 365 days from the date of filing. I do not have a new website. I am not closing my office. I am transitioning to uncontested cases at this time and she was under no deadline to transition. I have transitioned a number of clients with success. If given the chance, I would have been able to transition this client also. She would not allow us the chance to help her. We worked very hard on settling her case. We developed many drafts of a settlement agreement that we sent to her attorney. The client however changed her position several times making her case difficult to settle. She was very happy with our services but became frustrated with her spouse which is understandable. These are difficult times for anyone and we are very sympathetic to our client's needs. This client also did not want to spend any money on her litigation but demanded a lot from us in trying to settle her case. I am very aware of the high costs of litigation and do my best to use my client's money wisely. I even did work for this client and did not charge her. I am sorry this client feels the way she does but I was responsive to all her requests and did the work she asked me to perform at a reasonable rate. I hope that her case settles quickly and that she is happy with her results. I would ask that you read the other reviews and keep in mind the majority opinion. Thank you.

Excellent Experience

Christine had me set out goals for what I wanted the results of my divorce to be. Not only did we meet these goals, we exceeded them. My ex wife was seeking child support even though we had agreed on equal custody and equal cost sharing. Christine explained that no one "wins" or "loses" a divorce an...d that everything would be 50/50 anyway. My ex wife continued to pursue illogical goals and Christine encouraged us several times to come to an agreement together to save us money which impressed me because rather than encouraging me to pay her, she said we could save money by communicating ourselves. When we were unable to do so, Christine stepped up and allowed me to get a fair settlement that would pay for all my lawyer fees and have fair and joint custody. It all turned out better than I could have Imagined and it was because of her skill and diligence.

Prompt, Professional Service at a Fair Price!

Christine Howard provided exactly what I needed at a very fair price and was prompt and professional throughout the process. My ex-wife and I had come to an agreement on everything and had it put into a permanent separation order. All I needed was someone to represent me for the final divorce, bu...t every attorney I spoke with wanted to charge fees that were much more in line with someone who was not nearly as settled. Christine listened to my concerns, reviewed my order, and was the only one to have a fee that was reasonable for my relatively simple needs. Despite the simplicity of my case, Christine was always quick to respond with thorough, thoughtful advice. Connie and Lisa were just as professional both on the phone and in person. When the judge had to be hospitalized a few days before the hearing, they called me immediately and were able to take advantage of the last available hearing with another judge that day. Had they not acted immediately, my hearing would have been delayed for several weeks! On the day of the hearing, Christine was on time, had everything prepared, and told me exactly what to expect. The hearing could not have gone more smoothly. I highly recommend Christine M. Howard for her professionalism, attentiveness, and reasonable fee.

Custody case

I selected Christine Howard based on the glowing recommendation by one of her peers. Starting with our initial consultation visit, she and her staff competently, confidently, with empathy and patience walked me through a complicated case to a great result. Christine, Connie, and Lisa were obviously... well connected in the local legal community and were able to settle my case without a lengthy trial. They obviously had the best interest of the client in mind. I would highly recommend the Howard Law Firm.

Adultry divorce

She's an amazing attorney. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about her. She did everything she said she would do. She got my husband on adultry and she got my divorce final in 90 days.
