Lisa works with threats, lies when it’s convient, and is unable to keep up with her workload, but doesn’t turn a consult or case away. She misplaced paperwork I gave her, telling me I never got it to her; in fact she “promise (me) you that paperwork is not in this office. Long story short, it was a...nd I was billed for them having to “stay late” to find it. When talking with her she said “oh, so a good idea pops up into your little mind and you just blurt it out. honestly I’m not sure who is more the narcissist, her or my ex. She had the audacity to brag on how my ex’s lawyer is fond of her “like how he even thinks he’s in my league I’ll never know”. Then she informed me I should be grateful he was sweet on her (it made it so she could go have lunch with her child). None of my issues were solved, I just threw away money. She did teach me to keep good records though.

I contacted Lisa due to going through a nasty divorce. She was very kind and explained all the steps and the laws regarding my case and what will happen. We had some ups and downs, but of course, Lisa was always right and guided me through the process. She is a Tiger of a lawyer, which you need, a ...therapist for me, and a friend. She ended up getting me more than I expected in alimony so I could finish nursing school, and get on with my life. I still have a stack of her business cards that I carry and refer her anyone that needs her services. I still contact her once in a while with a legal question and she is always there for me. I wanted attorney to have my adoptive father's name removed from my birth certificate. To that end I approached her and we discussed the ne.ed for this,as he sexually abused me as a child. I had my name legally changed in Boulder, CO over 30 years ago but it was imperative for me to get his name re...moved before I die. She insisted that we "clean up my name change." It wasn't clear why, but I figured she's the lawyer, so she must know what she's doing. How Wrong I Was! When I received a mailed receipt for payment it mentioned the work she was providing for a name change and nothing about the,REAL purpose of my hiring her, getting my adoptive father's name off my BC. I immediately called and asked her paralegal who hemmed and ha we'd and gave me the runaround, using very nuanced language assuring me that "that" was "part of it." I felt uneasy. Throughout this 8 month process I have had an uneasy feeling. Each time I had to go by to sign papers there was never any language about my objective, but always about a name change. When the Order for Name Change arrived last week giving me a court date I was again concerned because AGAIN there was no mention about my BC, etc. When I called the office and thus was at least the 4th or 5th time I'd had this same discussion with the paralegal, who was obviously very nervous, Ms. Carver called back, never letting me get a word in, taking control of the conversation, insisting we'd never had any discussion about my adoptive father's name being removed from my BC. She,said it wasn't in her "notes." Lesson learned! When I go to an attorney in the future I will get a copy (and have it notarized and tape recorded!) So tgat there will never be any doubt in the future,and out what was discussed or why I am hiring. She was so rude and dismussive...only to rethink her behavior, following it up with a "poor pitiful you" email tgat said she,was trying to look up how to help me under SC law. Too late! After a series of back and forth emails she then insulted my family saying she couldn't be held responsible for "their choices" (read: bad choices). She is trying to intimidate and hopes I will go away. Beware if you hire this,attorney. Have someone go with you to act as a witness or she will turn what she is unable to do into something she can so she can take your money. The sad part about this whole thing is that my widowed mother paid for this legal work on a fixed income as a gesture of goodwill towards me as she brought this horrible man into our lives and we thought at last we were going to be free of him. Lisa Carver is skilled alright, but in no way that services decency or shows an ethical or moral compass.
