Alexander Stephens Hogsette

Alexander “Alec” Hogsette serves clients in personal injury matters such as car accidents, tractor-trailer collisions, premises liability, workers compensation, and nursing home neglect/abuse. His practice is focused on helping the injured to get the recovery they deserve. No matter the opposition, Alec is a skilled trial lawyer and his approach to each client is the same—to build the strongest case for trial. He is compassionate and understands that his clients have often experienced a life-changing accident and need an attorney to support them through a difficult time. He prides himself on establishing a personal relationship with his clients and counsels them through each step of their claim.

Prior to law school, Alexander attended The University of the South; Sewanee where he served as the captain of the swim team, earned multiple all-conference honors, was recognized as the best senior athlete with the Bishop Juhan Award, and was a conference champion in the 100 Backstroke. While at Sewanee, Alexander was also a member of The Order of the Gownsmen and The Red Ribbon Society. After graduating, he attended the Charleston School of Law.

During law school, Alexander interned with The Honorable Patrick Duffy at the United States District Court and The Honorable Irvin Condon at the South Carolina Probate Court, served as the Vice-President of the Trial Advocacy Board and Vice-President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society, and was a member of the Dean’s list and Maritime Law Bulletin. Alexander was an active participant in the Trial Advocacy Board and competed in mock trials throughout the southeast. He spent his summers clerking for litigation teams with several firms in Charleston, South Carolina. Additionally, Alexander was recognized at graduation for the number of hours he dedicated during law school to pro bono work. 

After graduating law school, Alexander served as a judicial clerk for The Honorable Michael G. Nettles, Resident Judge for South Carolina’s Twelfth Judicial Circuit. As a law clerk, he was responsible for researching complex legal issues, drafting judicial opinions, and assisting Judge Nettles with trial preparation.

As an attorney, his background and work ethic have allowed him to develop a strong understanding of how competent and diligent representation can provide his clients assurance their needs are satisfied. He is a dedicated litigator who can obtain the results his clients want.

Alec is an active member in for the South Carolina Bar on both a state and local level. Since 2016, he has served as an ambassador to the South Carolina Bar Foundation, an organization that promotes justice for all by funding legal access programs and education. Currently, he is also the 12th judicial circuit representative for the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Bar, the Secretary of the Florence County Bar Association, and an executive board member for the Florence Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he has led seminars for lawyers and the community in our state capital and at Florence-Darlington Technical College. In Alec’s free time he likes to spend time with his wife (a Florence native), Ashley Hogsette and son Whit (2).
