Robert D. Corney

Rob Corney is a personal injury litigation attorney and Managing Partner at Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers. He focuses his practice exclusively on the representation of individuals who have suffered grievous injury and harm due to the wrongful and negligent conduct of another. Rob has extensive experience litigating various high-stakes civil actions including tort and personal injury, premises liability, products liability, nursing home neglect and abuse and toxic and mass tort matters. After spending over 8 years of his career working for insurance companies, Rob understands the complexities of how insurance companies value claims and he uses that knowledge to help his clients. Rob is an experienced litigator with a track record of success trying cases to juries throughout the State of South Carolina.

Rob was raised in Mount Pleasant where he attended and graduated from Wando High School alongside his now wife. Growing up as the fifth of eight children, Rob learned from an early age how to effectively present and resolve disagreements. It was that upbringing and his desire to help others in their darkest times that drove Rob to attend law school after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers, Rob was a Partner at a very well-respected large insurance defense firm and served as an Assistant Attorney General for the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.

Outside of the office, Rob cherishes spending time with his wife and 3 daughters at the beach and on the boat along the waterways of coastal South Carolina. He is a former Board Member of PlaySafe, a South Carolina non-profit organization providing full-time certified athletic trainers to public schools throughout South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama. Rob was named to Greenville Business Magazine's Best & Brightest 35 and Under in 2018 (SC - Young Professionals), and has been consistently selected over the years by his peers for recognition of his professional achievements in both Greenville Business Magazine’s annual “Legal Elite” awards 2016-2020 (SC - Personal Injury), a SuperLawyer's “Rising Star” 2016-2020 (SC - Personal Injury) and a 2025 SuperLawyer (SC - Personal Injury). Rob was also included in Columbia Business Monthly's annual "Legal Elite" awards for 2021 (SC - Personal Injury) and was awarded the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating for 2021.

Rob is an active member of his local community and strives to use his training in the law as a means of improving the safety practices that ensure the well-being of all South Carolina residents and visitors.
