Maxwell Alexander Luing

I am an associate in the Saxton & Stump Business and Corporate Group. I am located in the Charleston, S.C., office, but also play an integral role in working with our attorneys in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. My practice includes business and securities law, and I gained experience working for the investment management group of a large law firm and a hedge fund in New York City following my graduation from Harvard Law School.

I most recently worked as legal counsel for an SEC-registered investment adviser, where I managed private fund launches and fund document updates, as well as drafted other private fund documents. I also advised on and negotiated private investment deals, documents for activist campaigns and other corporate transactions.

While at Harvard, I was a member of the school’s Transactional Law Clinic and participated in the Prison Legal Assistance Project. During my time at Connecticut College, where I graduated magna cum laude, I received the Ruby Turner Morris Prize (awarded to a senior Economics major for excellence in economics) and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Alpha Theta honors societies. I played varsity lacrosse at Connecticut College and was a three-time member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
