John Arthur Jones

Jay Jones is an experienced mediator and civil litigator who has counseled businesses and professionals in South Carolina since 2004.  Jay believes civil litigation should be just that: civil. His demeanor and sense of humor are appreciated by both opposing counsel and juries, making him an effective advocate for his clients. Jay’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation, professional liability defense, products liability, premises liability, insurance defense, construction and personal injury litigation. He holds an "AV Preeminent" peer-review rating from Martindale-Hubbell.  Jay is admitted to all state and federal courts in South Carolina.  

Born in Ohio and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Jay received his undergraduate degree in from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.A.) where he majored in Journalism and was a member of the university’s football and rugby teams. Jay earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law cum laude, where he was President of the Honor Council, Vice-President of the Moot Court Board, member of the Psychology, Public Policy and Law Journal, Chair of Dean’s Cup, as well as a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Alpha Epsilon Lambda honor societies. Additionally, he was the recipient of the Thomas Ewald Memorial Scholarship Award, the highest award for excellence in Litigation Skills.

When not in the office or a court room, Jay stays busy cheering on his children’s sports teams, as well as the Tar Heels and the Blues of Chelsea Football Club. He enjoys boating and going to the beach with his family, and playing tennis, soccer, and golf.
