He graduated from Clemson University (B.S., 1986) and the University of South Carolina Law School (J.D., 1989) where he was a Legislative Council Member and a member of Phi Alpha Delta. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1989 and United States District Court, District of South Carolina in 1990, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 2010. He is a member of the Charleston County, South Carolina and American Bar Associations, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, and the Defense Research Institute. His areas of practice include toxic torts, product liability, construction litigation, medical malpractice, and general negligence. James lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife and four children.
