Shawn D. Eubanks provides dedicated, competent, and ethical representation to private schools, charter schools, districts, private and governmental emmployers, and injured non-government employees in the South Carolina community.
Shawn is licensed to practice in all South Carolina state and federal courts, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of practice areas include litigation, education law, employment law, local government law, and business advisement. Shawn began his legal career clerking for the Hon. J. Mark Hayes, II in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Following his clerkship, Shawn served as an associate in a private law firm which provided legal services to a broad client base of school districts, state agencies, municipalities, businesses, and individuals. Shawn later accepted the position of Deputy General Counsel for the South Carolina Department of Education, where he handled numerous matters including Civil Rights issues, personnel matters and disputes, contract drafting and negotiations, and teacher certification hearings.
Shawn holds the Martindale-Hubbell “AV” peer review rating in Education, Labor and Employment, and Government law, which is the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical practice. An active member of the legal community, Shawn currently chairs the South Carolina Bar Association’s Education Law Committee, and is a member of the 2015 class of the Bar’s Leadership Academy. In 2014, he testified before the South Carolina Senate Education Committee regarding teacher retention and advancement, as well as the effects of certain provisions in the Teacher Employment and Dismissal Act. He has given numerous presentations across the state on education and employment law, and has served as emcee for full-day seminars on Title IX issues for school administrators and education and employment law for attorneys. He has also written articles for and Palmetto Administrator magazine.
Shawn is involved in the local community of Columbia, South Carolina. He currently serves as a board member for the Columbia Parks and Recreation Foundation, and has been a proud supporter of both the Nickelodeon Theater and the Columbia Museum of Art. He has also served as a big brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia, and is an active member at Riverside Community Church.
