I was oh so thankful that a friend referred me. Danyese was a god sent when I met her. Allowing me to make 2 payments for the 2500.00 retainer. However, was adamant that I file against my ex before he did me. She assured me it would be done. A month later I contacted her about a hearing I had in lex ...co from my ex vs. me (which still stands). I questioned her & not only did she not answer my question...blew me off as it was "no big deal"?!? Thankfully, the judge awarded me a discovery of my exes income. I am not aggressive (which has hurt me in the end) ...but am naive that my atty has me covered?? I asked her to meet me 15mins before the hearing b/c I did not know what to expect (my 1st rodeo w/ a lot of anxiety since I never hear from her). She questioned me "I can, but what do you want to talk about?". Did not hear from her after the discovery was awarded, I inquired before the hearing (after giving her all the subpoenas questioned). She emailed me back that she never heard anything back from the subpoenas requested (2 wks before my hearing as I contacted her). She said she would need more money since they didn't respond??? My new atty says they have no choice to respond?????

REVIEW

Every time I called I got told one thing only to find out it was a lie. My case dragged on for months longer than it needed to because of unfiled paperwork and they always had an excuse. They were waiting for a response to paperwork that hasn't been filed or they are waiting for a callback from an of...fice they didnt call. I was completely caught off guard the day of court. I was notified 3 days before I had to appear in court and at no point did she discuss with me what to expect. I was basicly taking care of myself. I cant count the number of times I had to call and remind the office to complete the next step. The only reason I didn't change lawyers is because I couldn't afford to pay all the fees again. I encourage anyone to think long and hard before using this lawyer. No one should be treated like this. Not only will you be getting a divorce but you will be paying someone to screw you over in the process.

Stay Away

Ms. Hobbs talks a good game. Her and her staff come off as stellar performers during the consultation process. Then I paid the retainer fee and all communications ceased. I went for weeks and months without any activity from her office. Finally I called and asked when I would be able to go to cour...t? At that time she put me off and a few more months went by. At this point I realized I had not even been back to her offices since I paid the retainer. So for several thousand dollars I saw her in her office once for the consultation, a second time when I paid the retainer but that was in passing, and a third time at the court house for my only and final hearing 9 mos. after paying the retainer fee. I received my court date notice by mail. We never even went over the case by phone or in person before appearing at the court house. There were a couple of emails with instructions for paperwork but that was it. I never even got a heads up on what to expect in court. During the court appearance I really wanted to tell the judge about this horrible experience but I didn’t know exactly what that would have accomplished. If I knew the judge would have made her refund my fee and allowed me to find another attorney then it would have been worth it. But without knowing the possible outcome I didn’t want to embarrass her and then still be out of money. I really wanted a new attorney. I ended up paying another attorney to fix my divorce. So I paid for my divorce twice due to ineffective counsel. The sad part is I paid for nothing. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else. The entire experience was expensive and horrible. I went to her because I thought she was an aggressive attorney that would speak on my behalf and get me what I deserved. Instead I was told by her that most judges would not side with me and that the events in my marriage that led to the divorce happened over a year ago so they don't matter now. She told me that she couldn't get me a better deal. Where I'm from somthing is better than nothing. I got nothing.
