I hired this Attorney to represent my interests in an uncontested divorce approximately seven years ago. I can not say strongly enough that you should find another option for any kind of divorce case. It has taken me this long to be emotionally able to write this review as a result of him handling... my divorce. I asked for very little for myself in my divorce but had several requests on my 20 year old type 1 diabetic child’s behalf. Every one of those requests were denied by Mr Smoak and his response was that my husband was a good man and that he would take care of our son. This is years later and I assure you my husband did not do so! My first request for the agreement was that my husband keep my son covered in health insurance until he was 25 years old. A year after our divorce he discontinued my son’s health insurance and did not tell anyone he had done so. My second request ivolved the vehicle that my son paid my husband $50 a week for for 2 years with the promise of the car being put in my son’s name. I asked that the title be put in my son’s name as a part of our divorce agreement. That never happened. Instead my husband kicked my son out of the home he grew up in 3 months after our divorce was final. He gave the car my son paid for to the child of the woman he moved into the home as soon as my son was kicked out to live with me. My ex husband rarely saw or communicated with my son after that and showed up at my son’s deathbed 8 years later to play the devoted father one last time. Mr Smoak, if you read this, please know how incredibly wrong you were about my ex husband and the effect your poor judgement has had on my life and my son’s life. If you are considering this Attorney for your divorce, all I can say is please don’t trust this man.
