Exceptional Estate Planning Attorney

We had a trust prepared in 2010 by a law firm in Virginia. When we recently moved to North Carolina, we knew we needed to update our trust to conform with North Carolina law. The trust that was originally prepared for us contained a great deal of boiler plate trust language and was nearly 100 pages.... While it achieved our basic requirements, it was confusing with some language that didn't really apply to us or fit our circumstances. After reviewing our trust and listening to how we wanted our estate handled, BJ suggested doing a restatement of trust rather than simply amending our existing trust, which would have made our original trust even more confusing. We took BJs advice and he produced a restatement of trust that achieved all of our goals and requirements and did that in a document that was clear and concise; with all of this accomplished in a document one third the length of our original trust. We are extremely pleased with the BJ's diligence and professionalism. He listened and understood what we wanted and our trust reflects that. We strong recommend retaining BJ for your estate planning. We are confident you will be as pleased as we are.

Estate planning

My wife and I engaged Mr. Kilgore to review our health care and estate planning documents (drafted several years ago by another attorney), make recommendations, and to amend one document in an unusual, difficult-to-draft way. All of this he did with great care and skill, raising questions we had...n’t thought about despite our having some experience in these things. A less thoughtful, perfunctory and more boiler-plate oriented adviser, for example, may well have let one of my suggestions slide through–a perfectly legal but potentially disastrous suggestion. Mr. Kilgore immediately recognized the problem and raised a cautionary flag. He’s personable and approachable. He listens carefully and explains clearly. My wife and I have great confidence in him not just as our estates and trusts lawyer, but as a dependable resource who will get us to the right person if a different kind of legal problem comes along. He cares.

Ultra Responsive and knowledgeable

It was a pleasure hiring and working with Mr Kilgore. He treated me like I was his only client. What stood out about him was how responsive he was. He would get back to me on weekends and at all hours of the night via email. I never felt like he didn't share my sense of urgency with my case. He was a...lso extremely knowledgeable and helped me through a very complex situation involving my divorce. He was the best professional I ever worked with. I would highly recommend his services.

Samuel Kilgore defense attorney

Samuel didnt take a lot of time to understand my case and my situation. During the trial he didnt complicate the case instead he was sticking to the basics to defent my case. Overall i had a good experience with Mr. B. J and i would recommend him. The only bad experience i had was when he asked me to... consent after spending so much time and money on the case and when we had a fair chance of winning the case. From his point he was giving me all the options i have but consent was never an option. He carefully listened to the trials of other cases on that day, understood how the judge was reacting to the cases. He was well prepared for the case by collecting all the evidense and documents.

Overcharge and Substandard Service

Hold on to your wallet. Before you know it your bill will be sky high and you will be worse off then if you had represented yourself. BJ is new and I am sure he will get better with time but I regret picking him to be my attorney.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is unfortunate that you were not pleased with the legal services provided to you. Given the circumstances in which we parted ways, your review took me by surprise. As a result it is important that I clarify my intent in regards your case. Over the course of working together you communicated your goals for a resolution of this case. However, as time went on it became more and more apparent that those goals did not align with the opposing party's goals. As a result we were unable to achieve an amicable resolution prior to court. Unfortunately, when litigation is required expenses can become quite steep. This is because: (1) it is imperative than an attorney adequately prepare to represent you in court; and (2) despite attempts to calendar cases "smartly" there is almost no guarantee that your case will actually be reached on the date that it is calendared. My goal was to work honestly and transparently with you, while at the same time doing everything in my ability to protect you in this legal matter. Accordingly (in addition to providing monthly invoices), I attempted to convey to you throughout the process the costs of the actions we were taking and the potential consequences. I apologize if it was misunderstood. I take great pride in the work I do for each and every one of my clients and work with integrity and honesty through the entirety of their case. I do wish you the best of luck and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you further in person if you would like to do so. Sincerely, BJ
