Similar to the medical field, one finds lawyers, like doctors specialize. So now the search begins based on your particular situation. In m...y case I didn't have family or friends to make a recommendation so I went to the yellow pages and settled on an attorney in a practice by themselves. I knew the multi membered ones would be more expensive. I selected Attorney Janese M. Baliles. Sure enough it was the right choice. That was about two decades ago. I was very comfortable with her as she listened attentively to my situation and ultimately solved my problem. Since then, every time I've need legal help she has consistently and reasonably resolved my problems, even to the extent requiring us to travel out of town. Do not use this lawyer if you ever want anything done in a timely manner. Her slowness is absolutely unbelievable. It has been well over a year since my Mom passed away and her estate is still not settled. It is all due to Jan's slowness and total ineptness at her job. If my Mom's estate had bee...n anything at all, I might understand the delay, but she had nothing in the way of money. Very small amount of insurance which took well over a year to make a payout due to Jan and her inability to handle things. Mom did own a house which had to be sold and the slow market is not Jan's fault, but it was sold this past summer and still have received no funds from the sell. The real estate agent did get paid who just happens to be good friend of same attorney. I have siblings involved also but there are no problems with us, just Jan. I have been through 3 other probate situations that involved very large amounts of money and property and none of those took anywhere near the length of time this tiny little estate has taken, all due to this lawyer. Unfortunately, I am not an executor of my Mom's estate or I would have fired this lawyer within 1 month of my Mom's passing because it was extremely obvious from the beginning she had no idea how to handle a probate situation. I wish I had not been so stupid as to never check her out online or I would have seen that she had been disciplined previously. Stay as far away from this lawyer as you can.
