Alexander Johnson King

Alexander J. King is a Hickory family law attorney and a founding partner of King & Rowe, Attorneys at Law. For more than a decade, he has guided spouses and parents across the Catawba Valley through divorce, custody, support, and property-division cases — the kind of high-stakes, personal matters where the outcome shapes a family's future.

Alex understands that family law cases are rarely just legal problems; they arrive during some of the most stressful moments in a person's life. He works to make the process feel manageable — preparing thoroughly, explaining what to expect in plain language, and staying reachable when clients have questions. His aim is to protect what matters most to each client, whether that means negotiating a fair resolution or standing firm at trial.

Born and raised in Hickory, Alex graduated from Hickory High School and North Carolina State University before earning his law degree at the Charlotte School of Law. He was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2013 and, after gaining experience at a well-regarded domestic and criminal law firm in Charlotte, returned home to launch King & Rowe with his law partner, Evan R. Rowe.

Alex's practice is devoted to North Carolina family law: divorce and legal separation, child custody and custody modification, child support, equitable distribution, alimony and post-separation support, and domestic violence protective orders. He represents clients throughout Catawba, Burke, and Caldwell counties, including Hickory, Newton, Conover, Lenoir, and Morganton.

He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and its Family Law Section and the Catawba County Bar Association, and the firm he co-leads was voted the Readers' Choice Best Law Office in Catawba County by the Observer News Enterprise. Outside the office, Alex coaches the men's tennis team at Hickory High School and volunteers with First Presbyterian Church — the same community he serves as an attorney.
