In Re the Matter of the Estate of Ranejdra Bhaila Patel (aka Jyotika Patel c. Samir Rajendra Patel and Rishi Rajendra Patel)
Feb 16, 2018OUTCOME: Court ruled in favor of Respondent, represented by Dinh Luu
Claimant Jyotika contends that her marriage to the deceased Rajendra Bhaila Patel was legal and sought recovery to his hand written will as an omitted spouse since the purported will was written before ... decedent and Jyotika met. Attorney for Respondent - Dinh T. Luu (Goldfarb & Luu PC) Respondents claimed that the marriage certificate produced by Jyotika was inadmissible and never existed in Rajendra's lifetime. The court agreed that no valid marriage had taken place in India and that the couple's pattern of declaring themselves single on their Federal Income Tax while supposedly married was Jyotika's undoing. The court found for the sons on all grounds, including validity of the will. Jyotika has no status whatsoever to decedent's estate.
