On June 30, 2020, a 14 year old teenager was killed at an arcade on Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 14 year old teenager pulled a gun on another person and shot that other person. ... As the 14 year old and the gunshot victim struggled over the gun, Kevin Smith pulled a gun and shot the homicide victim multiple times, killing him. Kevin Smith, 17, was arrested on July 15, 2020, and charged with First Degree Murder and Larceny of a Firearm. Notices of affirmative defenses, including defense of others, were filed. On March 3, 2021, the State dismissed the cases.
