He Ruined my Life

It was like pulling teeth to get any updates from him on my case. This man filed my paperwork too late. I completed it all on time, every time and turned it into him but he neglected to do his duty resulting in my work visa being pulled to start. When I called his office about the letter I recieved ...from HS that my visa was pulled he told me that my paperwork had been filed 1 day too late. 1 day! He had these papers for weeks! I was informed on the phone he no longer worked for the firm and went out on his own. They couldn't tell me where. I was not notified of this by him or anyone else until I called that day and had to hunt him down as he had two years of my paperwork. I found him and he then proceeded to tell me 2 weeks before my final big interview that he wasn't going to attend it, I was on my own, after I'd been paying him a lot of money over that 2 years. What lawyer does that? You pay to lead up to that one huge interview that makes or breaks you, the interview you hired the guy for and he abandons you at the last second! I had no idea what to do. I was lost. Sick badly from stress. I hired a lawyer for a reason. I needed his help desperately. Chose the wrong lawyer for that! Then the day of my interview he showed up out of nowhere 2 mins before I was to go in and decided he was going to go into my interview with me(prob to bill me for nothing, again) which he sat through like a stone, doing and saying nothing to help my case. The end result..I was told I had to leave the country voluntarily or risk being deported. I was a Canadian married to an American. Needless to say I had to come back to Canada and my husband could not come here. Because of him filing my paperworks late, I was labelled at the border as a flag and now can't even cross the border. I'm not a criminal. My lawyer was. As for my husband and I, we got divorced. Can't very well stay married when I can't cross the border. Never being allowed to touch again tends to kill a marriage. Thanks Chris! I see you are now disbarred but it wasn't soon enough before you messed up my entire world. You should be ashamed. You destroy lives. I still have anxiety attacks over it and it's been quite a few years now. I wish you the same in life you so graciously gave me. I should sue you, really I should. It's the least of what you deserve.
