Viral Mehta has called Charlotte home for over 40 years. He attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg public schools, earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Davidson College, and obtained his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law before returning to Charlotte to build his legal career.
Mr. Mehta spent the first decade of his career on the defense side, representing employers and large insurance companies in workers' compensation claims. That experience gave him a rare advantage: he knows exactly how insurance companies and adjusters think, how they value claims, and how they fight them. When he made the decision to represent injured workers instead, he brought that insider knowledge with him.
He founded the workers' compensation practice group at a local law firm before co-founding Mehta & McConnell PLLC. Today, he represents injured workers and accident victims throughout North Carolina in workers' compensation claims and personal injury cases, including car accidents, truck accidents, pedestrian accidents, and wrongful death.
Mr. Mehta is a North Carolina State Bar board-certified specialist in workers' compensation law, a distinction held by a small percentage of attorneys in the state. He has obtained favorable decisions before all levels of the North Carolina Industrial Commission, the Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court. He was a contributing author of the 2017 edition of the North Carolina Workers' Compensation LexisNexis Practice Guide and has been selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star every year from 2019 through 2023. He was named a North Carolina Super Lawyer in 2024 and 2025.
Mr. Mehta is also certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission as a Superior Court mediator, with a particular focus on workers' compensation cases.
Outside the office, he is married with a son, a daughter, and a dog named Alfred. He enjoys time with family and friends, traveling, sports, and reading.
