Facts: The mother of a deceased child brought an action against a family physician who had treated her son from an early age until 8 years old for asthma. The minor had not been provided with proper me ... dication. Given the severity of his asthma he should have been prescribed inhaled steroids to reduce his asthma symptoms in addition to his Albuterol. The defendant blamed the mother for placing the child in an environment where there were asthma triggers and furthermore, that she had not come to see him for almost 8 months prior to his death. Additionally, the minor had been admitted to Children’s Memorial Hospital approximately 5 months prior to his death and at that time the minor had been prescribed inhaled steroids with refills. Defendant denied telling the mother that the Pediapred or oral steroids he had prescribed for the minor were essentially the same and that she really did not need to continue the inhaled steroids
