The law office of Mel S. Harris oftentimes act in the capacity as attorney debt collectors for debt buyer LR Credit 13. LR Credit is a buyer of bulk "junk" debt. The lawyers at Mel S. Harris brought a ... lawsuit against the debtor in an attempt to collect the alleged credit card debt purchased by LR Credit from the original credit. After obtaining a default judgment, they froze the debtors bank account. We were able to assist our client's in obtaining a release of the funds along with a settlement. Consequently, the debtors entered into a stipulation of settlement with LR Credit and Mel S. Harris. In some other cases, we are able to help vacate the judgments and avoid settlement payment all together. Each case and client is unique.

Selip & Stylianou f/k/a Cohen & Slamowitz LLP represented the Plaintiff, Citibank, in an action to collect on an alleged credit card debt exceeding $10,000 and obtained a judgment by default against th ... e Defendant prior to our firm's representation. Our client denied receiving service of the Summons & Complaint from Selip 7 Stylianou llp f/k/a Cohen & Slamowitz llp and therefore had a plausible excuse for the default. We were able to negotiate an out-of-court settlement which included the judgment being vacated against the Defendant, and the underlying debt was settled at a savings of nearly 65%.
