A very good family law attorney

I retained Ms. Carpenter to assist me with a divorce from an 18 year marriage. The timing of the divorce was important because when you get near or over twenty years, the former spouse gets fully half of the retired member's military retirement pay. Everything was settled through mandatory mediatio...n, which saved a ton of money in courtroom costs. She negotiated a very fair settlement with my wife's attorney, and avoided getting me caught up in costly, long term costs of an equal split of my retirement pay. I got to keep the house and I got full custody of one of the two children (who couldn't get along at home, but that's another story). She later successfully represented me in ending alimony due to my ex-wife's cohabitation. This was difficult because my ex had moved out of state. I highly recommend Ms. Jodi Carpenter as your attorney.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
