I have worked with Stacey thru my estate, as well as my mother’s. She walked us thru all the if’s, and’s, and but’s to make sure what we wanted to happen after our passing actually happened. Stacey does not use high pressure tactics to get business. She provides real life examples during her presentation, and then patiently takes all the time needed for us to make the hard decisions. I feel like I have all the I’s dotted an T’s crossed that all will happen as I have designated. Stacey made this process simple and easy to understand. I highly recommend this practice for your estate planning.
Stacey walked us step by step through the process of establishing a trust. All of our questions and any concerns we had were answered fully. We had some work to do and once completed, Stacey and here staff prepared all the required docs and made all of the necessary filings. From beginning to end, the process took a few weeks and both my wife and I could not have been more satisfied with both the process and end result.
I grew up in Hillsborough, North Carolina. I attended Elon University, where I majored in Biology and helped found the first service sorority on Elon’s campus- Epsilon Sigma Alpha. While I planned to attend medical school, I changed my mind after sitting as an alternate juror on a murder trial when I was 19 years old! I fell in love with the legal arena and constant challenge of advocating for others! After graduating Cum Laude from Elon in 1992, I married my high school sweetheart Roland. While he was busy farming, I stayed active by volunteering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation helping grant wishes of terminally ill children. Eventually, we left the farm for Lansing, Michigan, where I attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School. I graduated in the top third of my class in 1998.
Since then, I have practiced in the legal profession serving as general in-house counsel for two different Insurance Companies, as well as a partner and sole practitioner. After having a disabled daughter in 2008, my passions changed. Now, I am driven to educate the public about protecting assets while avoiding the financial and emotional hazards of probate, a platform that is the cornerstone of Thomas Walters, PLLC. I serve as a Founding Member and Managing Partner of the North Carolina Division. The firms unique approach to Estate Planning is one that keeps the most important piece in mind- the client!
My unique perspective as a special needs parent, coupled with my caring heart, drives me to educate and help families on how to plan and keep more of their hard earned money in a way that is least burdensome of their family. To me, nothing seems more unfair than for a family to lose all they have worked for after paying into a government system that was intended to be provide “a comprehensive social insurance system covering all major personal economic hazards with a special emphasis on unemployment and old age insurance.” Pres. Roosevelt Exec. Order #6765, 1934.

Stacey Lynn Riley Walter's profile
Stacey was totally professional, well-prepared, thorough and meticulous in the performance of her duties as our attorney. She prepared, without any error, all of our estate planning documents including our wills, our revocable living trust, health care proxies etc. We are now totally comfortable, due to her diligence, that we have simplified for our children, the job of taking care of our affairs, upon our death. What better gift can we give to our children than having our affairs in perfect order and an outstanding attorney like Stacey to help them.

Trusts
Stacey worked very hard to put together our living trust. My wife and I did know anything regarding wills, trusts etc. and how they effect our lives. She took the time and effort (many times) to explain how a trust affects our current lives and how it will affect our heirs.
She is always there to answer our concerns and questions
