Office Visit

My husband and I had to file for bankruptcy (Chapter 13). I had anxiety about filing and the entire process. Everyone was so kind and courteous at the Fayetteville office. Christina Crews did an amazing job assisting us. However, i was unaware we would have to start making payments immediately after ...we filed. We filed on February 17 and we were told our first payment is March 1st. Which did not give my husband and I time to figure out our finances. We have to pay $1518 every month, not to mention we are paying $836 in child care plus other household expenses. Honestly, this amount is extremely high to the point we can't really afford that. I only get paid once a month. My husband will only receive one check prior to us making our first payment. I feel like I am still in the hole. I thought filing bankruptcy helps people get out of financial crisis. However, we feel we are still struggling with this payment.

Chapter 13

I went to the Orcutt law firm to file bankruptcy. I had gone to him in the 90’s for a chapter 7 bankruptcy and liked him. This time for a chapter 13 my experience was drastically different. The first time I met with Mr Orcutt personally and he actually went to court with me. This time I never met wit...h the attorney that was assigned to my case and met only with a paralegal or other support staff. On the day of my court appearance my assigned attorney from the Raleigh office wasn’t there and an attorney from the Fayetteville office was there to replace him. That was definitely a surprise for me. The court proceedings went fine thank goodness. In closing I think it would be nice that a client should meet at least once with the attorney that will represent them. The law firm of John Orcutt does great work.

Raleigh office is terrible !!

When I went to the Durham office for my initial consultation and setting up my Chapter 13 they were the best. They were knowledgeable and responsive and I wish I would have had the choice to stay with them. The reason I say this is now that my Chapter 13 is active I was assigned to the main office an...d Wheatley Honeycutt was assigned as my new paralegal. I swear every time I need to get in contact with her I never can!!! I swear to you either I am on hold for over 20 minutes (and if you are on hold that feels like an hour) or if I email her I do not get a thorough response. Either she just answers one of my questions or she doesn't make it detailed enough. Not to mention there is always a lady that answers the phone and she is just as bad because she sounds annoyed that she has to even answer the phone, I swear these people need to take customer service classes because their professionalism and mannerism sucks. They need to get a few pointers from the Durham office because they are a whole lot better in every category. If it just so happens that they are that busy than they just need to get more people because right now the experience I had once I was transferred to the main office is not good at all.
