Biography
Sarah concentrates her practice in the area of workers’ compensation defense, partnering with employers, self-insureds, third-party administrators and insurance carriers to efficiently handle workers’ compensation matters. Sarah joined the firm of Anders Newton in 2018 after practicing in the area of workers’ compensation defense for over 13 years. Sarah has represented clients before the North Carolina Industrial Commission, the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court.
Sarah routinely represents and advises clients on all aspects of workers’ compensation law, including injury by accident and occupational disease claims, intoxication and other defenses, independent contractor disputes, subrogation and lien issues, and insurance coverage issues. Sarah assists non-insured employers in the handling of penalty issues before the North Carolina Industrial Commission. Sarah also assists clients in identifying and handling opioid compliance issues in workers’ compensation claims.
Sarah is a graduate of North Carolina State University and Campbell Law School. She is AV-rated in workers’ compensation law. Sarah is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, Wake County Bar Association and North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys. Sarah has routinely participated in the Wake County Bar Association Lunch with a Lawyer program and the North Carolina Bar Association Bar Exam tutoring program. She also serves on the North Carolina Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section Council and the Edenton Street United Methodist Church Children’s Council. Originally from Jacksonville, North Carolina, Sarah currently resides in Raleigh with her husband, Andy, and their two children.
