Trusted Advocate for Our Special Needs Family

We had an outstanding experience working with Gil File as we navigated the guardianship process for our special needs daughter. From the beginning, Gil was patient, compassionate, and incredibly thorough in explaining each step of the process. He took the time to make sure we understood not just the ...legal requirements, but also what guardianship means for our daughter’s long-term future. His expertise in guardianship law and attention to detail gave us real peace of mind during what could have been a stressful time. We’re so grateful for his guidance and highly recommend him to any family in need of legal support in this area.

Excellent Guardianship Attorney

We recently moved to North Carolina and had to transfer our adult, disabled daughter's Guardianship case from FL. Attorney File not only assisted us with all of the necessary documents, but he also assisted my local courthouse with the transfer process, that was unknown to them. I can say that withou...t Mr. File's background, knowledge, care and assertiveness with our daughter's case, we would not have gotten through this process! Thank you again Attorney File!

A Steady Hand at the Rudder

Gil’s finest quality is his ability to empathize with his client’s plight. He was supportive, understood our concerns and even understood our anger and frustration with the situation and the judicial system. Although he may have shared our view when we explained how absurd our opposition was, h...e was able to explain our limitations and our inability to completely control the situation while his calming and professional demeanor kept us from going off the rails or taking an action which was not in our best interest. He has a depth of experience which allows him to draw from past cases and apply them to ours. He had the right courtroom presence for the types of family cases he represents. He was always responsive and available and kept us advised when he simply could not be.

A Highly Recommended Attorney

Mr. File far surpassed my highest expectations. He was highly recommended by an excellent criminal attorney and I'm so glad that I took his advice. I sought his help when my only child was in an extreme mental health crisis and Mr. File could not have been more compassionate, discreet and knowledge...able. It would be difficult to find an attorney who responds more quickly and insightfully to every inquiry from the client. Thanks to Mr. File, we were able to find creative legal solutions that were uniquely suited to my son's very complex and challenging condition. If you need a diligent, responsive and kind-hearted attorney, hire Mr. Gilbert File.

Guided Me Through the Process Every Step of the Way

I hired Gilbert File to represent my interests in a Guardianship case filed by the nursing home my mother resides in. Gilbert took time on multiple occasions to explain the guardianship process to me and patiently answered all of my questions. Gilbert's extensive knowledge and expertise allowed me to... prevail in my effort to become the legal guardian of my mother.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
