Dan Mccord Hartzog Jr.

Dan M. Hartzog, Jr. has been practicing defense litigation in the Raleigh office of Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog since 2006, after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. In the course of this time, he has successfully handled matters in several areas, primarily focusing on employment law and municipal liability.
Dan has obtained dismissals or partial dismissals in a variety of civil litigation cases, including employment discrimination and retaliation claims, alleged constitutional violations, wrongful arrests and searches, defamation claims, civil conspiracy claims, and general liability claims; successfully defended numerous EEOC and OAH charges involving alleged discrimination and retaliation; obtained findings of employee misconduct and substantial fault in Employment Security Commission appeals; litigated a variety of matters in state and federal courts; assisted in guiding several employers through difficult termination proceedings; and minimized damages and successfully negotiated favorable settlements in a cost effective manner for numerous clients in a variety of civil litigation cases.
