Sheila A. Mikhail

Sheila Mikhail is the founder and managing member of several successful entrepreneurial ventures in the life sciences sector. Trained as a lawyer, she is founder and managing member of Life Sciences Law (LSL), a highly profitable boutique law firm focusing solely on the needs of biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies. In addition, Sheila has founded several biotech and medical device companies, including Asklepios BioPharmaceutical Inc., NanoCor Therapeutics, Inc., ZumaTek, Inc., InnerOptic Technologies, Inc., and Novati Investments, LLC.

Previously, Sheila has participated as an adviser in the Launching the Company program at UNC-Chapel Hill, which assists professors and university researchers in spinning out their technologies into new companies. She has also served as an Executive-in-Residence for North Carolina State University's TEC Program, which develops commercialization strategies for technologies developed at NC State and the greater RTP community. Sheila has been an invited speaker for multiple events, including various national BIO conferences, various AUTM conferences, the Management Biotech Conference at Northwestern University, the Industry Symposium at Ohio State University's Medical Center, MAGI Clinical Research Conferences in Miami and Boston, and ACRP conferences in Houston and Orlando.

Prior to attending law school, Sheila worked as a consultant for for both Arthur Andersen, LLP and AT Kearney. Before founding LSL, Sheila served as a law clerk for the Honorable Martha Craig Daughtrey, 6th Circuit, US Court of Appeals. She also worked with Ropes & Gray, LLP in Boston and Sullivan & Cromwell, LLP in New York.

Sheila received a B.S., with highest honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a finance M.B.A., with honors, from the University of Chicago, and a J.D., with honors, from Northwestern University. She is admitted to the bars of California, Arizona, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, and Illinois.
