James Edward Shay Jr.

Jay is a proud, life long resident of Preston County, West Virginia. He grew up in Kingwood and now lives in the Bruceton Mills area with his wife April Darby Shay and two children. 

Jay always wanted to be an attorney for as long as he or anyone in his family can remember. He has a passion for the law that he brings with him to every case he litigates. He firmly believes that every case is unique and that every client deserves individual attention and his very best effort.

Jay has vast experience in the criminal realm with over 10 years experience as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Preston County. Jay has handled all types of criminal cases ranging from speeding tickets to murder cases and everything in between. He also has experience in juvenile abuse and neglect matters as well as juvenile delinquency cases and a great deal of experience in the private sector and civil matters.

Jay is closely associated with all of the players in the court system in Preston County as well as the other courts in North Central West Virginia. He has the connections and experience necessary to aggressively and appropriately represent you and your interests no matter what your legal situation may be. 

Jay is an active member of the Preston County Bar Association and has served as an officer for various community and civic boards and associations.
