OUTCOME: Trial by Zoom: Superior Court judge affirmed lower court's ruling in favor of my client, and also awarded my client attorney's fees.
Client sued friend who agreed to rent agreement but then breached. Client won in Small Claims court. Friend/tenant appealed, and hired counsel to represent him in his appeal.
OUTCOME: The parties mediated the case and settled for $25,000. Non-confidentiality was a specifically bargained for part of the settlement.
Gold Value sued our clients for alleged infringement of 3 fabric designs, demanding disgorgement of profits, damages fore willful infringement, and attorney's fees. Gold Value had sued these same clien ... ts for one of these designs 3 years ago, and that claim had been dismissed with prejudice. The other two designs had not been registered for copyrights properly; Gold Value's copyright application claimed the designs were unpublished, when in fact Gold Value had sold samples of the fabric designs before applying for the copyrights. That meant that they copyright registrations were invalid and could not support a claim for infringement.
OUTCOME: This was an appeal on a trial de novo of a verdict holding our client liable. The appellate judge vacated the judgment so our client owed nothing.
Our client was sued for money owed from a breach of contract.

OUTCOME: The case settled quickly when the City agreed to eliminate the position of City Chaplain, cease the prayers, and pay Plaintiff's attorney's fees.
Atheist group sued the City of Pismo Beach and its City Chaplain for praying in City Council meetings, which is a violation of the California Constitution.
OUTCOME: Won a sizeable settlement.
Soundtrack producer sued a distributor for breach of the parties' distribution agreement.

Radio station owner sued trademark assignor/seller for trademark infringement; trademark owner counter-sued for breach of the trademark conditional sales contract, since plaintiff/counterdefendant was ... supposed to return the trademarks to defendant if they did not pay him a set amount. Defendant/Counterclaimant also sued for an accounting, and for conversion of the stock of defendant's/counterclaimant's company that owns the trademarks.
