People v. Nolan
Sep 14, 2011OUTCOME: Nolan was sentenced to 16 years in State Prison (Max. 17 years and 8 months) and ordered to make full restitution for medical expenses, lost wages and client's out of pocket losses for a total of nearly $70,000.
Client was a carjack victim who was beaten by the suspect and her car and personal property stolen. In violation of Marsy's Law, my client was not informed about bail being reduced or the defendant's ... release from custody. She also was not informed of her right to be heard in court on these matters before any of these issues were considered by a judge. As her counsel, all her Marsy's Rights were asserted; she was heard at every stage of the proceedings and gave a meaningful victim impact statement at the time of sentencing.
