Richard C. Maxwell heads our Bankruptcy & Creditor’s Rights group and focuses on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, commercial law and equine law.
Among his many results for our clients, he once reorganized $50 million manufacturing company and emerged from bankruptcy within 90 days. He regularly appears in Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers and Virginia Living’s Legal Elite.
Well known in legal circles, Rich has been invited to be a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy. He is a former director and Chairman of the Bankruptcy Section of the Virginia State Bar. He was chairman of the Advanced Consumer Bankruptcy Law Conference and serves on the planning committee for the Mid-Atlantic Institute on Bankruptcy and Reorganization Practice. He edits and writes about enforcement of liens and judgments published by the Virginia Law Foundation.
Rich received a bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College, a master’s of business administration degree from Eastern Michigan University and a law degree, cum laude, from the University of Richmond, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.
He has served the Roanoke Valley community on the boards of Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Clean Valley Council and National D-Day Memorial Foundation.
