Michael John Hertz

Michael J. Hertz practices in the firm’s Corporate and Business Law and Intellectual Property sections, focusing his expertise on corporate and intellectual property matters for both closely held and public companies.

His experience includes merger and acquisition and contract drafting and review for companies in high tech and other industries. He also files and prosecutes state and federal trademark applications and copyright applications. In that role, he has represented clients in administrative proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Prior to joining Woods Rogers, Mike had the privilege to clerk for the Honorable Jackson L. Kiser, U. S. District Court Judge for the Western District of Virginia in Danville.

Mike earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his law degree from Wake Forest University. While in law school, Mike served as an editor of the Wake Forest Law Review.

He serves numerous non-profit organizations, including Rebuilding Together, Roanoke, Total Action Against Poverty and Blue Ridge Literacy.
