Mykell LaRocque Messman

I hired Ms. Messman a few years ago for my divorce/custody after spending 5 years with another law firm & wasting thousands of dollars to get nowhere. Ms. Messman got my divorce finalized and sole custody of my children in less than a year & only charged me a couple of thousand dollars. The other law... firm drug their feet and charged me $60,000 grand over a 5 year period. I'm so glad I found Ms. Messman.

I was with another firm for over two years. They drained my bank account, my hope, and I felt like a pawn in my own custody battle. I sought Mykell out after a terrible experience where I felt my attorney at the time didn’t know how to represent my case. I had an initial meeting, we talked about what... was important to me and once accepted Mykell literally heard everything I said, as a single mom, and went from there. We didn’t have a bunch of consultations that she billed me obscene amounts, we had two. She went to court and she FOUGHT for my babies and for me. She fought for everyone’s best interests, she was amazing. She told me from the beginning we’re not doing this whole “petty” thing which I 100% respect because my previous lawyer told me to call them about everything, and they billed me accordingly. She said call me when you NEED me and gave me her personal cell. After two and a half years for the first time I felt HEARD with her without repeating myself twenty times. I felt SAFE with her and I knew she was looking out for EVERYONE. She was everything I needed from the beginning and more. If you don’t go to Mykell you’re doing a disservice to yourself and your sanity. For the first time in two and a half years I feel like I can breathe again. Retain her. The juice is worth the squeeze I promise you.

Mykell Messman is amazing. I originally started with another lawyer and was getting nowhere. Messman was highly recommended to me by several sheriff deputies who had seen her in action. She is brutally honest which I respected. She didnt try to make me spend my hard earned money in areas that werent ...unnecessary. I was going through an extremely difficult divorce with a sociopath. Custody, child support and harassment were huge issues I had been dealing with. Messman resolved everything and was able to negotiate EVERYTHING I wanted in one single mediation. She does not play around and sees right through the B.S.. We were able to completely avoid going to court and paying tens of thousands because of her skills. Messman was a bit more expensive than my previous attorney but you get what you pay for. Don’t make the mistake of paying less because you will get less in return. Thank you Mykell for everything you did. I feel the weight of the world has been lifted off of me. Thank you for keeping me and my child’s best interest in mind.

I have decided to give Mykell a review and she was not even my lawyer but the biological father's lawyer. When we approach a lawyer, all we want is to be represented whether we are right or wrong. This lawyer represented the biological father like he should be represented. He is a master manipulat...or and harmful to my child but she didn't know that. She did her job. He is so harmful that he left my 5 year old out in the dark by himself in a parking lot while he sat in his car with the windows rolled up because he was mad at my child. This was also in January. Why am I choosing to give her a review like this because my lawyer bombed at protecting my child. My high priced lawyer did a horrible job at helping me. My lawyer was easily manipulated by the biological father and it was Mykell in the end that understood the horrible man he is. For that, I am grateful for her. Now I have heard she will stretch out her litigation and will not return calls. That so far is true and hopefully she will improve but when she shows up to court, she shows up fighting. I have written a review about my previous lawyer but it still has not started the healing process of hiring a horrible lawyer. I thought, how can I bring goodness to this situation. Thanking the people that did good in this situation was the only way I knew how.

Mrs. Messman is a horrible lawyer and a joke. It cost me over 7000 and over a year to complete an order that she stated would take a few months. I was lied too continuously and would never receive updates or call backs. The only time I was contacted was when she needed more money. I had to find out a...bout the status of my own order myself and she lied to me about how long it was approved. It was approved for a month before it was disclosed to me.
