My greatest joy as an attorney is in helping my clients fix their legal problems in ways that are tangible, resolute, and effective. I became an attorney because I have a strong sense of justice, and in a world full of injustice, I find fulfillment in knowing that I have helped tip the scales of justice—even just the smallest bit—in the right direction.

I spent my first four years of practice working in the employment and business world. As a litigator, I represented both employers and employees in work-related disputes before the courts and various administrative boards. While this might seem like an unlikely path to Estate Planning, my time as a litigator allowed me to hone my skills as an advocate, strategist, and negotiator. It also allowed me to become intimately acquainted with the conflict resolution process. I believe this is one of my greatest strengths as an Estate Planner: I know firsthand what my clients are trying to avoid, and I understand the concerns which motivate them. As a result, my clients find that I am keenly aware of both the “big picture” goals we are trying to achieve and the many minor details that we need to address in order to get us there.

I also am a firm believer in leveraging one’s opportunities and influence for good, and I love helping my clients maximize the impact of their legacy, whether for the benefit of charitable causes or the sake of their family. Before becoming an attorney, I studied counseling with a particular focus on issues affecting women, and I worked for several years as a mentor, tutor, and counselor. I take the responsibility to serve as an advisor seriously in my legal practice, and I am passionate about helping my clients exercise control over their decisions and finances.

In my spare time, you will most likely find me spending time with the people that mean the world to me, chief among whom are my wonderful husband, our sweet children, and our loyal dog, Scout. I especially love to visit the beach, go for a run or rollerblade around my neighborhood, and indulge in a great meal with my crew at any one of the many fantastic restaurants here in Hampton Roads.
