Alex grew up in western Massachusetts and attended the University of Massachusetts - Amherst as an undergraduate. Upon graduating from UMass, Alex sought the milder climate of Virginia and enrolled in the University of Richmond School of Law (T.C. Williams School of Law).
In law school, Alex devoted much of her attention and studies to juvenile criminal law and family law. She was active in the Children's Defense Clinic at the University of Richmond and earned a Certificate of Concentration in Family Law, with distinction. It was at the University of Richmond where Alex developed a passion for helping children and families navigate the complex legal system and court system. Ultimately, Alex graduated in the top third of her class and was selected for Phi Delta Phi (The International Legal Honor Society).
Following her graduation from Law School, Alex moved with her husband, son, and black lab back to her husband's hometown, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Since returning to Virginia Beach, Alex has been involved in various community activities and worked for a local criminal defense and family law firm in the Kempsville section of Virginia Beach.
