I am sorry that you were unhappy with any consultation I may have provided. I always strive to give honest, objective feedback about a client’s situation and their options in a one-time meeting. I also protect private information people share with me in any discussion, so I will not and cannot respond in kind with any other details. With that being said, in general, an initial consultation is not the same as agreeing to represent someone going forward or take their case. Not everyone has a situation where I believe I can be effective, whether because of the facts, the applicable law, or other reasons. In those situations, I try to explain my thinking and reasoning based on the information I have at the time and let them know they can seek another attorney’s opinion if they wish. Understandably, people who receive that advice can be disappointed. Regardless, I pride myself on my integrity and the value of my services, including one-time consultations.
