Solid Lawyer

Bob did a good job at letting me know what I needed to have for the court case and when and where I needed to be. I had a great outcome for the situation I was in. He was a little preoccupied with other cases on the court date but overall he is a solid lawyer. Only downfall was his fee, which is to b...e expected.

A Job Well Done

Bob Keefer helped me out a great deal, without his representation I'd be in a much different position today.

Bob Keefer: Reliable and efficient legal counsel.

Bob was there for me during some very challenging times in Harrisonburg, VA. He was very frank in laying out my legal options and advising me the most suitable course of action. As we continue to deal with the aftermath of my case, Bob has been very helpful every time I call him to handle business fo...r me in VIrginia. He is smart, friendly, and he knows the court system extremely well. Although he is a busy man, he always makes it a point to be receptive to any questions, concerns, or suggestions I have. Bob has been and will remain my go-to lawyer for any legal counsel I have need in the state of Virginia.

Free phone consult never occurred - difficult to reach office staff during usual office hours

*I requested a free phone consult through Mr. Keefer's website ~2:00 pm on Friday 10/14/2016. *I received a call from Mr. Keefer's office ~1:16 pm on Monday 10/17/2016 and gave them the specifics of my case. They asked me if I would be available for the phone consult that day at 4:30 pm. *I receive...d a call at 4:35 pm that day saying that Mr. Keefer was referring me to Mr. Derek Bostic. *I called Mr. Bostic's office and discovered that they do not do free consults. In my case, the price of the consult would cost more than my speeding ticket fine. *I called Mr. Keefer's office to ask if they could give me a reason why I was being referred to Mr. Bostic instead of actually speaking with Mr. Keefer as scheduled. Lisa said Mr. Keefer had given no reason and so I asked if she could ask Mr. Keefer. She said she would get back to me within a few days. *A day or two later, I receive a call from Lisa saying that Mr. Keefer referred me to Mr. Bostic "because of his case load." I was disappointed with how this whole process went. I can understand not taking cases due to a heavy case load, but I do not understand scheduling a phone consult and then during the scheduled phone consult time have someone call to cancel.

I appreciate your bringing your concerns to my attention. My caseload at that time did not allow me to represent you. I do not take on more work than I can handle. I recommended another attorney whose work I trust to help you. He more likely than not would have gotten your case dismissed. It sounds like you decided not to hire him or even pay him to speak with you. Reading between the lines, I assume that you were not looking for counsel but wanted an attorney to tell you how to represent yourself. I used to try to teach people how to represent themselves but stopped about fifteen years ago. The reason I stopped when I witnessed how badly people unfamiliar with the legal system gummed up their cases. People with no experience often manage to lose cases they should win. As Abraham Lincoln said: “He who represents himself has a fool for a client.” Our Free consult would have consisted of me telling you to hire the lawyer I had my office suggest that you hire. I am sorry that you did not take that advice. Perhaps I have misunderstood your concerns. If you want to discuss this further please call me at 540.433.6906 or email Bob@BobKeefer.com.

Mistake

I hired Mr. Keefer for a misdemeanor traffic offense in Virginia. I am out of state and relied on the various reviews he received, which were quite good. Mr Keefer was very expensive compared to other attorneys, but I thought I was getting the best. I completed the entire laundry list of items he ...required and even took a Driver Improvement Course which took me 10 hours to complete. I am a middle-aged woman with a perfect driving record and was reacting to a medical emergency at the time. Needless to say, I don't know what Mr. Keefer did on my behalf because I was found guilty. His response was that the judge found "everyone guilty that day." If that is the case then Mr. Keefer should give up law, because he is totally ineffective. His secretary also told me I should pay the fine within 24 hours, but it is not easy to come up with over $800 after paying a hefty legal bill. This is a huge revenue producer in VA and it is not going to change. In hindsight I should have hired the $400 lawyer and could have gotten the same result. To appeal the decision is well over $1,200 and to me is just throwing more money to the economy of VA. My good name is ruined and I am angry, but I am out of options.

I am sorry that you are not in a position to appeal your case. Without sharing any details, the Court did not accept the facts as you present them in your review.
