Patrick Joseph Moran

Patrick J. Moran is an attorney at McCarthy & Akers, PLC, where he focuses his practice on estate planning and helping individuals, families, and business owners create comprehensive plans to protect their assets and preserve their legacies. Patrick is committed to providing practical legal guidance that gives clients confidence in their future and peace of mind for the generations that follow.

Prior to joining McCarthy & Akers, Patrick built a diverse legal career spanning public policy, government service, and advocacy. He began his legal career as a Legal Associate with the Cato Institute before serving as an Attorney with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Office of the General Counsel. He later spent three years as a Senior Attorney with the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, where he represented the interests of entrepreneurs and business owners nationwide.

Throughout his career, Patrick has developed extensive experience in legal research, appellate advocacy, and constitutional law. He has authored and contributed to dozens of amicus briefs filed in state and federal courts across the country, including the United States Supreme Court, and has presented oral argument before the Michigan Supreme Court.

Patrick brings this broad legal background to his estate planning practice, helping clients navigate complex legal issues with clarity, attention to detail, and a client-centered approach. His experience advising businesses, organizations, and individuals allows him to develop thoughtful strategies tailored to each client’s unique goals and circumstances.

Outside of the office, Patrick enjoys spending time with his wife and children and is actively involved in his local community. He holds a black belt in karate, enjoys target shooting, and is an avid reader and writer. Patrick and his family proudly call Strasburg, Virginia home.
