Dennis M. Mersberger co-founded Schmergel & Mersberger, PLC with a focus on providing high-caliber criminal defense to clients throughout Northern Virginia and the federal courts. Based in Arlington, Mr. Mersberger has spent over twenty years building a distinguished practice dedicated to criminal trials, criminal appeals, and traffic matters for both adults and juveniles. His experience extends across numerous jurisdictions, including Alexandria City, Arlington and Fairfax Counties, Falls Church, Loudoun, Manassas, Prince William, Stafford, and the Eastern District of Virginia. Recognized for his passionate advocacy and commitment to excellent client outcomes, Mr. Mersberger has also served as appellate counsel before Virginia’s highest courts. He actively contributes to the legal community as a member of the Virginia State Bar Criminal Law Section, Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and as former Policy Board Chair for Alexandria ASAP. Mr. Mersberger earned his law degree from George Mason University School of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. He is admitted to practice in Virginia, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the United States Supreme Court.
