Calm and compassioanate
I felt she had a very good understanding of my complex case in relatively short consultation. Gave very good insight, suggested possible strategies, and gave realistic expectations for a very high conflict situation and explained all the legalese in a way I could easily understand and with a very com...

Not recommended lawyer - Very bad experience
I used this lawyer for my separation and divorce from my wife and she convinced me to sign a separation agreement that pays my soon to be ex-wife spousal support (an amount equals one third of my paycheck each month) for a period of up to one year. After 6 months of paying spousal support I find ...
I wanted to take a minute to respond to this anonymous review where I think the reviewer was perhaps more unhappy with their situation and obligation under the law than with my services. There is a formula used by the Fairfax Circuit Court for temporary support. For parties with no children, temporary support is determined by taking 30% of the gross income of the primary earning spouse and deducting 50% of the other spouse's gross income. When a spouse is not working, it's just 30% of the earning spouse's income. That does admittedly hit the payor's monthly budget pretty hard, but when 2 people were living on one income in one home and they now have to live on that same one income in two separate homes, you have to expect that the budget will often become an unmanageable reality for both spouses at least on a temporary basis until assets can be tapped or more income can be earned. Temporary support ends on the date of the final divorce hearing (so is usually paid for up to 12 months depending on when the separation date was). It can end sooner if a final agreement is reached or the recipient spouse increases their earned income. These are hard facts to accept in some situations but "don't shoot the messenger!" I do try to be straight forward with all my clients and tell them what they can expect to happen in court even if they don't like it. Many times reaching an agreement when there is a fairly certain outcome you can predict in court, can save you a lot of money! Imagine having to not only pay support you are struggling to afford at 30% of your gross, but then also having to pay fees for going to court to hear the same thing from the judge! I did recently receive an amazing Yelp review from a long term spousal support payor who had signed a bad agreement with his previous attorney in a case where I was able to terminate his spousal support obligation altogether!

Child Custody Trial In Arlington
She thinks much more highly of herself than she actually is. She did not prepare me for trial and told me that this case would be easy to deal with. She underestimated my retainer fee. I’m sure she is fine for mediation but not for trial. After I fired Teresa I found a much better lawyer.
This is not a case I handled in the vicinity of the timeframe when the review was posted, so I cannot verify the case to respond further.
"I endorse this lawyer. Teresa is excellent. Knowledgeable, calm under pressure, and a very welcome collaborative colleague."
