Resignation with charges pending issued in CA, 2004

updated on 12/13/2019

Resignation with charges pending means the attorney resigned in order to avoid being disbarred, the most serious penalty for a lawyer.

Robert’s comment:

“The "charges" were exceeding the scope of activities allowed on inactive status (a very, very minor issue) and apparently most importantly to the California Bar, failure to pay associated dues and fees. Since I had no longer practice there, on the advice of local counsel, I resigned rather than pay the exorbitant amounts. And despite the date given, this occurred in approximately 1994 - 25 years ago.”

Voluntary inactive (disciplinary) issued in CA, 2004

updated on 12/13/2019

This sanction means the attorney resigned in order to avoid being disbarred, the most serious penalty for a lawyer.

Robert’s comment:

“See comment above. Despite all sorts of allegations arising from my role in providing assistance in a highly publicized family member criminal case and the insanity related to the surrounding media frenzy NO and I repeat NO charges or disciplinary actions were ever brought to me except exceed the scope of authority as an inactive member.”

Public reproval with/duties issued in CA, 2001

updated on 12/13/2019

A censure or reprimand issued by the Supreme Court or the State Bar Court that is not a matter of public record unless imposed after the initiation of formal disciplinary proceedings. No period of suspension is imposed. The reproval may be imposed with duties or conditions.

Robert’s comment:

“See comments above. This means failure to pay requested fines and dues and worse the associated legal fees to contest this issue.”
