Eileen P. Blessinger received her juris doctorate from the American University Washington College of Law. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Blessinger served as a law clerk to the Honorable Patricia A. Broderick, Associate Judge at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, in Washington, D.C. She also work as a pro bono prosecutor in the Juvenile Section of the Office of Attorney General, in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Blessinger was recently recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” for immigration law in both Virginia and Washington, D.C. She has testified as an expert witness in immigration law in the Eastern District of Virginia and has appeared as a commentator on international television. Ms. Blessinger has also presented at several immigration law conferences throughout the country on various topics, including: advanced asylum issues, representation of detained individuals, bond proceedings, and immigration relief for children.
Ms. Blessinger has appeared before many immigration courts and agencies throughout the United States and abroad. She has successfully litigated difficult cases before the Immigration Court, including asylum, withholding of removal, cancellation of removal for both lawful permanent residents and non-lawful permanent residents, adjustment of status, waivers of grounds of inadmissibility, and NACARA. Ms. Blessinger has also successfully argued motions to terminate removal proceedings before the Immigration Court, affirmative asylum cases before the Asylum Office, and cases before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Department of State.
Ms. Blessinger is active in a number of professional organizations, including the American Immigration Lawyers Association and Federal Bar Association. As a dual citizen of Ireland and the United States, Ms. Blessinger is also an active member of the Irish Network of the District of Columbia. Ms. Blessinger is a member in good standing of the Virginia, District of Columbia, New York, and New Jersey Bar Associations.
