Do not hire

As opposing counsel, Michael C. May turned what should have been a family-law dispute into years of expensive and unnecessary litigation. In my view, his approach appeared designed to maximize conflict and legal fees rather than promote resolution. By the end of the case, attorney fees had ballooned ...to more than $90,000, (which his client never will receive back) leaving me with the impression that prolonging the fight was more important than finding practical solutions. I found him to be highly adversarial, unwilling to compromise, and focused on procedural tactics rather than the merits of the issues before the court. The litigation became far more costly and contentious than it ever should have been. Based on my experience dealing with him as opposing counsel, I would not recommend his approach to anyone seeking a fair, efficient, or reasonable resolution of a family-law matter. He is the kind of man that would take on his wife's last name
